Tiger (Panthera tigris)
Muscular body, powerful paws, large head. The view is even very frightening. Tiger can easily argue with the lion himself for the title of king of beasts. After all, the tiger is the largest cat on Earth. Adult animal reaches 2.5 m, but do not forget about the tail up to 90 cm long. Especially large is our Far Eastern Ussuri subspecies. Such a kitty weighs not less than 300 kg.
The wool of this wild cat is tawny. Of course, it is difficult to imagine a tiger without its stripes. By the way, they each have their own: some have more bands, some hardly noticeable, and the strips differ in shape and location. There are also tigers albino, however, increasingly not in the wild, but in zoos and nature reserves. In nature, tigers live in the territory from Siberia to Java and Bali. Due to persistent human persecution and adverse climate change, the tiger population is constantly decreasing. Most of all left tigers in India and Indochina. There are about 3000 of them. And in our Far East there are only 200 of them, in Iran and Afghanistan there are no more than 50 tigers.
Tigers prefer to settle in forests, closer to water bodies and live, as a rule, alone, but they are friendly to their tiger neighbors. Among them, fights are very rare even because of the territory. But after all, each tiger has its extensive possessions - up to 100 km. To avoid them all, the tiger has to pass up to 80 km per day. Tigers are nocturnal, but they can meet in the afternoon if there is a need to hunt. By the way, they are excellent hunters - careful, perfectly disguised, absolutely noiseless. They easily move on the ground and climb trees without difficulty. Tigers can develop a great speed, so that the victim is very difficult to hide. Their main prey - wild pigs, deer, buffaloes. The tiger is picky in food and will never touch the carrion.
Tigers live up to 50 years, but, of course, such long-livers can be found only in zoos. For the first five years young tigers live with their mother and a couple of brothers and sisters. Half of the cubs die as early as childhood from the teeth of other predators or from diseases.
Some hunters say: "Tiger is a gentleman." True, they add: "Gentleman .... good luck. " Sense then changes. Another nickname of the predator is "fierce". So the inhabitants of Transbaikalia nicknamed him. For what the tiger got last nickname can still be understood. And why was he given the title of gentleman? His nobility is that the tiger does not attack from the back, and before the attack warns his victim with a roar (while all other wild cats attack in silence). The tiger can rightfully fight with a lion for the title of king of beasts. When a tiger walks through the jungle, all the birds fly away, the animals hide, and the monkeys scream with panic. But when the tiger hunts, it's almost impossible to notice. It always goes against the wind, so that it can not be detected even by smell. This is very strange, since the tiger itself hardly distinguishes between smells. True, this lack is filled with hearing and vision, which are well developed. Tiger is smart: not for nothing, in India they say that he is the smartest after an elephant beast in the jungle. In confirmation, you can, for example, say that for each animal he has his own tactic of hunting. He calls the deer, imitating deer screams, but he hunts loudly at the monkeys. Those in panic run up, and the most reckless fall from the trees almost to the beast in the mouth. Here the tiger does not yawn. Killing a tiger boldly, without hiding. Catching prey, he tries to immediately bite her throat. Once an adult tiger dragged a large bull guar about 20 meters, and after the remaining carcass could not lift from the spot 10 adult men. Rarely, but sometimes tigers attack young elephants who have strayed from the herd.
Is there a danger to man? A normal tiger will bypass a person and not attack without reason. But do not forget about the cannibal tigers. When such a tiger appears, people panic, roads empty, all work stops. And this horror is justified. What makes tigers move to cannibalism. There are two reasons for this. First, this happens if the beast becomes old. He can no longer continue his usual way of life: his teeth are worn out, his claws are broken off, and the forces are no longer the same. In this case, a person becomes an easy prey. The second reason for this behavior is the people who make the tiger a cripple. Having wounded the beast, inexperienced hunters simply do not finish it. Having survived, such a tiger always becomes an ogre.
Most cases with tiger-cannibals were recorded at the end of the XIX century. For example, in the Urals for 1 year, the tiger-eater killed 48 people. From 1880 to 1892, the appearance of the cannibal in Kazakhstan was recorded. To destroy it, a special team was formed. But neither in the Caucasus nor in the Urals has so much been recorded as in India. There were cases when on the account of one cannibalist there were up to 300 victims. Such a bloody reputation can boast of Bengal tigers. By the beginning of the 20th century, information about such tigers is becoming less and less. Tigers-cannibals can be insolent to such an extent that they will switch from night hunting to daytime hunting, as people are more in the light of day. Attack, as a rule, unawares, on a single satellite or on a small group of people. Constantly dealing with people, the tiger-cannibal is already developing its techniques, attacking the victim from a distance that can be covered with one jump. Even an experienced hunter can not do anything, because you have to not only catch a predator, but also do something. For this, you need to have an unprecedented reaction.
If you are waiting for some information on how to cope with the man-eating tiger, since you, God forbid, had occasion to meet with him, I want to upset you: there are no ways - it's almost impossible to be saved. So, finally, we wish you NEVER meet this dangerous predator.
